I made up a little mandolin riff Monday, and decided to send it to a dear friend of mine, Brian Dotson. I asked him to do whatever he wanted. He sent this back to me last night.

This song is inspired by the weekly cyclocross rides that I have been doing. You can see pictures and results at this link. I have been wanting to make a funny cycling song for some time now. I don’t think this lives up to the expectations I had in my head, but it’s still pretty stinking funny. Ok time to take the pup for a walk

So my pup Lily decided to be a guest artist. She was tired of me having all the fun. So I set up some beats for her, and just let her flow. She may sound a little manly, but her voice was a little rasp from the dog park today. While we were at the dog park she urinated seven times. She especially liked this one big oak tree. Hope you all like the song she wrote.

Well it’s Wednesday again and I had so much fun this morning that I’m already done. This one is a lot of fun. It’s pretty stinking funny. It’s is a different approach to gangsta.
The acronym for gangsta is geekiness, anthropology, nerdy, gawky, sociology, technology, and the true sign is acne. I hope you all enjoy. If you have any clever ideas leave a comment. Well, I was really wanting to spend some more time on this, but I got to spend the morning outside riding cross with Frank from community cyclist. All is well. I think it sounds decent. Let me know what you think. I know it needs something else. Maybe a little softer build before the little chorus. I’ll have an update on whats going on as for as cycling goes tomorrow.

First music post

Well this is the first of many music posts. Since I do a lot of stuff I can’t just sit down and write a song. So I’m going to let anyone interested in on my (probably terrible) process. I’m going to try to make my music posts once a week. Hopefully every Wednesday morning before I head off to a day of work. Let me know what you think. All criticism is welcomed as well as suggestions of where the songs should go from where they are left off. Also, I’m hoping that some of the people I used to play with in the past are wanting to create with me. We will see what comes out of that. The goal of this music isn’t really to be a beautifully produced piece. It’s to get some songs out there. I miss creating with friends, and maybe this will speedy up the process for when we get together. Maybe as I get better at recording they will become more delightful to listen to. Hope you enjoy.

IT Band and Cross Season

Looks like I’ll be visiting the physical therapist soon. I have been having some pain in the outside of my knee while and after running even short distances. It doesn’t seem to be getting in the way of my cyclocross training, and hopefully it will continue to be that way. I’m lucky that it didn’t effect me sooner and get in the way of my summer full of triathlons.

Hopefully I’ll be back in the running groove in January after my short cross season. That should give me enough time to decide if I want to step up my distance in the tri, or if I just want to continue to get faster in the sprints. Either way I’m feeling a new bike coming along.

I’ll be posting my short list of cyclocross races I plan to attend, and by attend I mean conquer. Oh, and by conquer I mean be faster than sixty percent of people that don’t finish the race. On the real though, I’m feeling pretty fast. I guess you never know where you stack up until after that first race where you leave it all out there.
